What we check

When you look up an IP address on ignixip, we run it through multiple checks simultaneously:

Understanding the risk score

ignixip calculates a composite risk score from 0 to 100 based on all available data:

0–15: Low Risk — No significant indicators. The IP appears clean across all checks. This is typical for legitimate residential, business, and well-known hosting IPs.

16–39: Medium Risk — Some indicators detected. The IP may be on a minor blacklist or classified as a proxy/VPN. Context-dependent — may be benign.

40–69: High Risk — Significant risk indicators. Multiple blacklist hits, high AbuseIPDB score, or Tor exit node detected. Warrants investigation.

70–100: Critical Risk — Multiple severe indicators across different sources. This IP is very likely involved in malicious activity.

Common reasons to check an IP

People check IP addresses for many reasons: investigating suspicious network connections, checking whether an email sender is legitimate, verifying that a server you're communicating with is who it claims to be, or researching an IP that appeared in your firewall logs.

If you manage a network, tools like Ignix can monitor your traffic continuously and alert you automatically when suspicious IPs appear — so you don't have to check manually.

Checking multiple IPs

If you have a list of IPs to check — from firewall logs, email headers, or incident response — use our Bulk Lookup feature to check up to 25 at once. Or paste raw email headers into our Email Header Analyser to trace the path of a suspicious email.

Free IP reputation checking — no ads, no tracking, no clutter.
